The new CTTP Golf: new app, new admin and Eclectic

The app and the admin get a whole new design, and with Eclectic your players can play for the best score of the season across all 18 holes. The price stays the same.

The new app, in light and dark theme

Closest to the pin just moved up a gear. The admin and the app your players use out on the course both have a new design. And with Eclectic, your club gets a season-long competition that gives players a reason to get back out on the course week after week.

The new version builds on what clubs already use every week: the QR code at the hole, the live leaderboard and Hole in One registration. It is all quicker to use and easier to read on a phone.

The price stays the same. Everything new is included in your current subscription, and there is nothing you need to do to get it.

The new app: built for use out on the course

Players scan the QR code at the hole, just like always. From there, everything is simpler:

  • →Pick the hole with one tap. Big buttons showing hole and par. When only a few holes are in play, the buttons get extra large.
  • →Enter the distance and submit. Name and distance sit in a panel that slides up from the bottom. The Send key on the keyboard submits straight away.
  • →Your colors and your logo. The app uses your club's colors and logo on every screen, automatically.
  • →Live leaderboard. The distance is on the leaderboard the moment the player taps Submit.
  • →Just like a real app. A step-by-step guide adds the app to the Home Screen, tailored to the player's own phone and browser.

Easier to read, even in bright sun

The app gets used out on the course, with the sun on the screen and a glove on one hand. So it is built to be read, not only to look good.

  • →Contrast that holds up. If your club color is too light for white text, the app darkens it automatically. Text always has a contrast ratio of at least 5.5:1, more than the 4.5:1 the WCAG AA accessibility standard requires.
  • →Light or dark theme. The light theme is easiest to read in direct sun. The dark theme is easier on the eyes at dusk on an evening round. The app follows the phone's setting, or players choose for themselves.
  • →Larger text works. If a player has set larger text on their phone, the app follows. That goes for iPhone and Android, on small screens and large.
  • →Big buttons, big numbers. The hole buttons are easy to hit with a thumb, and the distance is shown in big digits so the player can check it before sending.

New: Eclectic, the season-long competition across all 18 holes

Eclectic is a classic club competition that runs all season. Each player builds up one score per hole, on all 18 holes, and the lowest total wins. Now it runs right in the app your players already use for closest to the pin, so there are no spreadsheets and no sheet on the clubhouse notice board to keep up to date.

That means more rounds, more talk in the clubhouse and a reason to keep coming back.

  • →One score per hole. When players are happy with their score on a hole, they lock it in. The locked score counts for the rest of the season, so there is suspense, and some strategy, in deciding when to lock.
  • →Sign in with name and PIN. No app to download and no email account. Players register once with their name and a 6-digit PIN, and can sign in again on a new phone.
  • →My card and the overview. Players see their own card and the whole field, color-coded like a real scorecard, with their own row at the top.
  • →Club sections and handicap divisions. Run it for the men's section, the ladies' section or the seniors, with divisions by handicap.
  • →Easy for the admin team. Turn on Eclectic for each competition, follow the standings, and show them on a big screen, print them or export them.

In the admin, you follow the season in an overview that looks like a real scorecard. Birdies are circled, bogeys sit in a square, and each handicap division has its own table.

The admin, redesigned

The admin is calmer and easier to find your way around. The dashboard shows what matters the moment you log in: tournaments, submissions, Hole in One results and courses.

Under Closest to the pin, you see the season's balls on a 3D green, with the best distance, the average and the weather on the course.
